Event
Aug 14, 2025 - Aug 14, 2025

On Thursday August 14th, 2025, The Grove was blessed with a visit from Senator Bill Cassidy, with the purpose of participating in a round-table discussion regarding homelessness and untreated addiction and mental illness in our Louisiana Parishes. Joining the senator were key leaders from several parishes and cities including East Baton Rouge, St. George, Ascension, and St. Martinville, as well as representatives from the organization Keep Tiger Town Beautiful. The Grove staff members were also present to support and participate in a candid and genuine conversation about solutions and efforts to address the homelessness population and overcrowded jails in our state. What a refreshing and hopeful discussion, with so many key leaders showing willingness and open-mindedness to a new solution to this devastating and growing problem, as without a newfound solution or thinking outside the box, change is difficult. As the saying goes in the rooms of recovery, as well as rang true in this room of our state’s leaders, “You cannot keep doing the same thing, and expect different results!”.
Thank you all who participated in this long-overdo, heartfelt dive into solution finding.
But most of all, THANK YOU for coming forth with an open mind and heart.
❤️
