This Friday, January 5, 2024, The Grove Recovery Center hosted its first Family Day and Unity dinner of the new year, starting this year off with a bang. Like usual, on the first Friday of every month, we gather together and host a Family Day where we invite the families of our residential clients to gather for a day of education, insight, revelation, and healing. The Grove staff members come together and offer a stellar presentation to the families, engaging with them, so that they too can become educated on the disease of addiction, and its many facets. We then break up into small group and process fears, harms and resentments and hopefully get some forgiveness.
We end that segment of the day, then, celebrate; having our monthly Unity dinner with clients from the Sober Living houses and Intensive Outpatient Programs from both campuses of The Grove Recovery Center. We gather together for food, fun and fellowship, we pick up chips for various lines of clean time, we present certificates for graduations from the program through seven months of care and completion of OP, and we share a story of experience, strength and hope.
And in the air is always something magical; something unexplainable – the feelings of joy, accomplishment, and humility.
What a beautiful way to kick off the new year, with new beginnings, newfound freedom, and hope for change to come!🌳
