Taylor Schexnayder, CIT Aftercare/ Flex counselor

Taylor is from the small town of Paulina, Louisiana where he grew up along the banks of the Mississippi River. A traumatic accident led him to be introduced to pain killers at the age of 16. As he grew up, his obsession with drugs progressed into a full-blown addiction to a library of substances. He’s had multiple attempts at treatment but to no avail. He came to The Grove Recovery Center in September of 2023. During treatment he learned that his substance abuse was but a symptom of his hopelessness, low self-worth, and lack of a connection with a higher power. After Treatment he discovered that he has the ability to connect with others to share his struggle with addiction, which led him to seek employment with The Grove as a recovery advocate. With this newfound purpose of helping others he continued to grow and understand of effectiveness. He is now working as a counselor in training with the aspiration to help others overcome addiction to enjoy life free from substances.
